"Signs" of the times

If you will recall, I've been doing a few words of sign language with Madeline. We sign "milk" when she gets a bottle, "all done" whenever she's finished with something (or is fussy because she wants to be "all done" with whatever she's doing), "new diaper," "night-night," "paci," "kitty," "play"... and others, if I think of it while talking to her about something, though I'm no where near consistent about those times. Anyway, she has understood many signs for months now, but recently she showed that she knows how to sign "milk!"

Unfortunately, she has gotten yet another cold - and another ear infection. Thank goodness for antibiotics - and that she likes the bubblegum taste! Despite the runny nose, she continues to be a silly kid. Earlier tonight she found a peculiar way to entertain herself:
Yes, she is actually chewing on a picnic basket.

Caleb got promoted!! He is now an Associate Scientist. Basically, he keeps the same boss, etc, but has an excuse to order new business cards. It's nice to have hard work recognized, that's for sure.

We've had some bizarre weather lately, with waaaay too much rain (and too many storm sirens), but we're getting outside almost every chance we get. Madeline loves to go for walks around the neighborhood! We're getting to know neighbors better, too, and meeting some of those little babies born last summer. They've all grown so much! We're looking forward to many more playdates and evenings spent with new friends this summer.
