Teething!

Madeline has two teeth now!!! She's cutting both of her lower front teeth at once - ouch! She's not too crazy about showing them off, but I'll try to get a picture one of these days...

Well, during the month of March, Madeline has had two flu viruses (one courtesy of Daddy), and a nasty cold (courtesy of Baby R) that's turned into a double ear infection. This means that Madeline, Caleb and I haven't slept well for most of the month now! Thank goodness for antibiotics, though; we hope that Madeline starts improving quickly (she just started them yesterday for the ear infections). This is also why we have no new pictures to share! Let's face it - a sick, unhappy (and teething) baby is not something you photograph. But I've looked through past pictures and found a few to tide y'all over.

If you can believe it, Madeline is 8 months old now... At the doctor's office yesterday, she weighed 16 lbs 15 oz (with her clothes and diaper on). That, plus the two teeth, and you have to acknowledge that she's growing up! She talks a lot (her favorite lately is "Dadadadada"), has started waving, recognizes and gets excited about certain words (e.g. "kitty"), and understands several words in sign language (though she doesn't sign back). She's also figured out that if she says "ahhhhh" we'll pat her mouth to make fun noises. She knows how to do it to herself with the back of her fist, too, and spontaneously says "ahhh" when we drive over bumpy roads (which is most of them, these days). She's getting so clever!
