Raising Girls

We absolutely love our two girls. They are the light of our life!

I mean, who could possibly resist the charms of these two?

We would have to agree, though, that raising two girls is... well, different. It colors everything.

Typically "boy" things are made into girl toys.

(Remember these? It's a case for matchbox cars!)

More often, they're just plain girly. (Okay, I'm talking about Madeline since Olivia is too young still) Madeline is rarely without her princesses.

(3 princesses not pictured. These are Tiana, Cinderella, and Ariel, plus she has Rapunzel, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), and Snow White)

And, when possible, her princesses/dolls are stark naked.

If we're being honest, sometimes we are the ones who "girl" things up a little. We introduce her to the Princesses, Dora, and other favorite female characters. A few weeks ago, she was obsessed with anything ballet-related. Now we're all about the princesses! (Although, we do introduce her to "boy" characters, too, like Thomas the Tank Engine, and Dinosaur Train - it's just that she pretty much ignores them! With the exception of her new tool bench, courtesy of the neighborhood garage sale.

But often, "girly" is just her nature, and she can't help it when everything around her becomes a little more girly, too. And yes, we're loving every minute of it!
