We all enjoy being surprised by the little things, don't we? Sometimes it's such a simple thing, too - maybe turning on the radio just as our favorite song starts - and it just feels like a hug from God.
Madeline is almost 6 months old! I can't believe she's so big already. She's almost sitting by herself, and has suddenly decided that she doesn't want to be swaddled anymore when she sleeps. She also has started preferring to sleep in her crib (she used to nap almost exclusively in the bouncy seat), but her reflux is still a problem so sometimes she still has to sleep in the bouncy (like right after eating). Yes, the reflux is still an issue. We'll be going in to the pediatrician next week, but they've already increased her dose this month because her symptoms were returning, so I don't anticipate that she'll be off the meds anytime soon. Oh well, thank God for medication in the first place!
Recently, Madeline got a Bumbo (for those who don't know, it's a little seat that helps babies who can't sit on their own yet). She loves it! She gets to feel like she's a big girl, and that she's part of what's going on around her.
We also got a toy to set in front of her while in the seat. It has lights and reacts to her touches, so it keeps her busy for a while sometimes. What a blessing!
Caleb is keeping busy at work, as always. He's started a Toast Master's group at his work, which is a nationwide organization that provides a structured environment in which to hone speech skills. He's been having a lot of success, and they even added another meeting time for those who couldn't make it otherwise. He comes home with some great stories sometimes, and it sounds like people are really benefitting. He's supposed to go to China again sometime, but they haven't picked a date yet. It's a necessary evil, though we're not looking foward to his absence for 2 weeks!
I've started watching another baby part time, a little girl who is a month older than Madeline (henseforth dubbed "Baby R"). It's definitely going to take some adjusting, especially while Baby R gets familiar with us and the house, but it'll be good socializing for both girls. Maybe Madeline will learn from her, too! She is rolling over a lot these days, when the thought occurs to her. Of course, this means she doesn't get as much tummy time anymore... It's cute to watch:
Well, this weekend Madeline will be 6 months old! We're going to try rice cereal for the first time tomorrow. Fingers crossed! She has also officially had her first haircut!! I've cut her bangs three times now, but it was time to cut the back of her hair, too. It kept getting caught in the bibs (she drools, a TON), and it's much easier now. Unfortunately, I didn't think to take before and after shots... Just imagine that she has about 1 1/2 to 2 inches less hair in the back now!
