Happy Halloween!

Last night was Halloween! There was so much excitement in our house, all day long! Finally, though, dinner time was over and we bundled the kids up to go trick-or-treating. Olivia dressed as a little duckling (with a pink and purple bow added, to tell you she's a girl!)...

...And Madeline dressed as Olivia the Pig! (She's a children's book character, for those who aren't familiar with her. There's a little image to the right)

It was fairly cold last night, probably around low-30s when we were out, so we put lots of layers on the kids, hats, mittens.... and bundled them in the wagon. :)

Our neighborhood is arranged in a nice, big loop, so we covered the kids with blankets and walked to the other end (pulling them in the wagon), then set them loose to trick-or-treat.

We had so much fun! The girls were great about saying "Trick-or-treat!" and then thank you or happy halloween (a pet peeve of ours is when kids come to the door and just stare at you, waiting for candy). It was adorable to hear Olivia's little "dank ooo" as she trotted off after her sister. Madeline ran to nearly every house, but she'd wait to ring the door bell until her sister caught up. We all had a blast!

Eventually, the kids started to get cold - and Olivia's little legs could only carry her so far. For the last few houses, Olivia relaxed in the wagon while Madeline rode on Caleb's shoulders.

That's one pampered little duckling! 

 
Once home, the girls each enjoyed a treat while Mommy and Daddy warmed up with hot cocoa!

This year, Caleb really out-did himself with his pumpkin carvings. I should point out that he started doing these on the foam pumpkins, so we can keep them and continue to display them year after year. The other pumpkins also allow him to do a lot more detail:
