VA Trip

During the last weekend in September, we took a four-day weekend vacation out to Virginia to see our good friends, Patrick and Rose (and their new little one!). If you will recall, they were friends of ours back in TX (Patrick and Caleb were in grad school together). We had a BLAST! They are such good people, it's too bad we're so far apart. Regardless, we had a great time visiting. Here are (many) highlights.

The weather was wonderful. We went out for lunch on day one, during which the girls were pretty happy.

I got a Magna-Doodle from Target for only a few dollars... It keeps her busy when needed!

Great cuddle-time at lunch!

For an activity, we went out to Manassas to see the site of the Battle of Bull Run. It may have been the end of September, but it was HOT and HUMID that day! It was still interesting to walk through the tour, and we got some great shots of the girls! (Yes, they are wearing matching outfits... We're so corney! :) )

The battlefield.... Notice all the cannons? You'll see them again.

Bumpy ride...

"Mom, why did we stop? What is everyone looking at?"

Little Amelia was a doll! So patient with the grown-ups wanting to do our thing...

Well, fairly patient! Rose titles this one, "But Mommy, I don't WANNA share!!"

Notice the necklace? They're never far away.

Proud Daddys.

"Caleb, she won't fit in.... Oh, I guess she will!"

We went out for lunch after church, and someone taught Madeline how to hold a straw in her mouth...

Playing a favorite game (Settlers of Catan), with the help of the girls.

Madeline gained a lot of confidence regarding her walking, taking steps more and more! When we got home, she continued feeling a little more courageous every day. She's now officially a toddler! Videos to follow. Anyway, Caleb did discover a whole new game with Madeline: she would sit on the floor, he'd grab her ankles and she'd hold on as he'd drag her around! Hilarious, especially going down the two steps from Patrick and Rose's dining room to their living room:

More stories to come! Stay tuned...
